Since the end of my?collegiate career I have finally had some time to do the things I've been putting off. Applying for jobs, working out and getting in shape, eating well and healthy, and enjoying the fact that I don't have to go back to school in the fall for the first time in roughly....17 years.? I've been roped into/convinced/turned on to the Insanity workout program from Beachbody.com. My former swim team/lifeguard, ski team, and softball playing self is in love with a good hard work out. If I'm not sweating or breathing hard by the end it's not worth it. Last fall I discovered that there was a roller derby league forming in my state and town and realized that it was something that I needed to get involved in. My darling mother was thoughtful enough to give me a mouth guard and a card for skating lessons for Christmas. It was then up to me to round up the rest of the gear before the class started in February, no small feat living in Juneau, Ak. A friend of mine who didn?t have the time for derby had a pair of skates she was looking to sell, I bought them. I found a kit of elbow pads, wrist guards, and knee pads on Amazon. When visiting my dad in Palmer, I purchased a bright green helmet. I found my old swim team duffle bag put all my gear in it and was ready to start. But alas I still had over a month until the class started, so I did what any college senior would do in my situation. I signed up for a core conditioning class and a karate class with the school?s recreation center. I worked out for about 2 hrs a day twice a week and the 2 hrs a day 3 times a week once the derby class actually started. I went from a size 16 to a size 14 with little to no weight change. After graduation I muddled about for a few weeks before stumbling upon the Insanity program. After convincing one of my fellow core conditioning students to join me in a quest for self-health. So far I?m on day 39 of 63 and have been shocked by my results.
-2 inches off my waist (natural waist)
-2.5 inches off my stomach
-2.5 inches off my hips
-1 inch off my chest
-1 inch off each bicep(so much more definition!)
-.5 inch off each thigh
Crazy calf and quad definition
-6lbs lost thus far, but lots of muscle gain! And am now a size 12 (which I haven?t been since I graduated high school) Since January I?ve lost 6 lbs. (weight doesn?t like to leave me inches however do) 3.5 inches off my stomach And 2.5 inches off my waist. I?ve been eating healthier, sleeping better and feel so much stronger! I?ve also mapped out a work out plan for me to follow over the next 6 months and am looking forward to being stronger during this next derby season. Hopefully going from fresh meat to getting on one of our teams.
