OpSail 2012 Virginia: Parade of Sail

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - It's a big day in the OpSail celebration. Friday is the Parade of Sail.

That's when more than 100 ships will line up outside the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and sail into Hampton Roads. The ships will go over the HRBT and head down the Elizabeth River before docking in Norfolk.

Here are the best places to catch a glimpse of the ships.

  • Along the bayfront of Virginia Beach between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
  • Fort Monroe and Ocean View between 9:30 a.m. and noon
  • In Norfolk and Portsmouth between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Businesses are also looking to cash in on this weekend's festivities. OpSail is expected to attract thousands of people. 10 On Your Side's Liz Palka joined us with a look at what local businesses are expecting.
